"The training Scott Shetler offers is a necessity for any combat sport. I originally came to Scott's boot camp to improve my cardio for Brazilian jiu jitsu. After receiving my purple belt I was talked in to competing at the IBJJF Pan American tournament. I knew I needed help preparing for this so Scott became my strength and conditioning coach.
For 3 months, I trained 2 to 3 times a day following an intense program that Scott set up for me. I weighed 225lbs when I began the program and my goal was to drop to 200lbs so I could compete in the under 207lb weight class while maintaining my strength. I met the 200lb goal in under 45 days! Yes, you read that right, I lost 25lbs in a month and a half and I was stronger than when I started the program. With another 45 days of training to go I made a new goal of making the under 194lb weight class.
At about 80 days in, I was 185lbs and I was the strongest and fastest I have ever been in my life. My cardio was top notch thanks to the kettlebell circuits and the Prowler stacked with insane amounts of weight. My strength was incredible from the explosive lifts mixed in with the Grappler.
Tournament day I was 182lbs and I felt fantastic. I have no doubt that two to three more weeks of Scott's program would have dropped me into the under 181lb weight class.
If you're looking to compete in a combat sport or even looking to shed a few pounds, Scott is your guy. He knows what he's talking about and he knows how to tailor a program specifically for your needs. If I didn't have to move away, I would still be there pushing the Prowler in the parking lot. "I have been working with Scott for a little more than 4 months now. I was diagnosed with two bulging discs in my lower back about 2.5 years ago after a golf injury nearly 3 years ago. I have been in the IT industry for a little over 20 years now. Between the golfing injury and sitting all day my lower back and entire core have gotten completely out of shape. The pain in my lower back was getting to the point where it was chronic and the doctor said I would need surgery and I didn't want that. I ended up meeting Scott and so far his programming has brought my pain down considerably and in about 3 months the pain was almost gone. While the discs are never going to be completely healed the pain is manageable. Scott's program, along with some diligent work on my part at home, has paid huge dividends. I am nearly pain free and on the days where I might have a bad day from sitting in the car for a long period of time, just doing a little bit of work at night with some exercises Scott provided turns things around pretty rapidly.
